Self Portraits with a Twist
May 7, 2018 , 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm
title: Self Portraits with a Twist: an art workshop with Israeli artist Merav Kamel
description: This workshop is geared to Art Teachers and Teaching Artists
Self Portrait Inside Out
A portrait of our body’s inner terrain, that combines an anatomy lesson and sensory awareness. What do I feel that my brain is made of when I study hard? What flutters in my stomach when I am hungry? The students will invent their own metaphors and paint them on a big piece of paper or on clothes so that they would be able to wear the inside of their bodies inside out.
Self-Portrait as a Map
We’ll begin with a short exercise of drawing a self-portrait of with our eyes closed – with the sense of touch. We’ll see some works by the Israeli artist Michael Druks and draw a portrait of ourselves as a map.
