SOCKEL: On Friday, December 11, 2009, Sylvia Sockel, beloved wife of the late Philip Sockel; beloved mother of Marcy (Howard) Gross of Aspen, CO and Gayle Levine of Chicago, IL; sister of Alec (Ann) Pechersky of Squirrel Hill and the late Irv Pechersky and Katie Fireman; sister-in-law of Miriam Sockel and Freda Sockel; grandmother of Eric (Erin) Gross, Staci (David) Raymond, Taryn (Chandler) Snyder and Bryce Levine; great-grandmother of Kenzie Gross, Logan Gross and Oryn Snyder; also survived by nieces and nephews. Graveside services and interment were held at Shaare Torah Cemetery. Contributions may be made to Sivitz Jewish Hospice, 200 JHF Drive, Pittsburgh, PA 15217.
