ROBINSON: Sylvia Miller Robinson, 89, of Boca Raton, Fla., passed away October 11, 2018, due to natural causes. Her beloved husband of 69 years, Donald M. Robinson, preceded her in death. Sylvia was the loving mother of Stephen (Teresa) Robinson and Carol Robinson (Jeffrey Markel), grandmother of Abby (Mike) Foster, Leslie Markel (Felix Berger) and Richard Markel, great-grandmother to Beatrice, William and Finnley, and sister of Morton (Maxine) Miller. Born in Pittsburgh, Sylvia was a proud Taylor Allderdice graduate and attended the University of Pittsburgh. She met the love-of-her-life Donald when he crashed a wedding while on leave from the Navy. Sylvia devoted her life to family and community. Her many philanthropic interests included board positions at the Riverview Center for Jewish Seniors, Jewish Association on Aging, Jewish Federation of Greater Pittsburgh, Pittsburgh Youth Symphony and Pittsburgh Ballet Theatre. Sylvia founded The American Friends of Israel War Disabled. She was also a longtime volunteer at Family House. Sylvia had a life-long interest in theater leading to multiple roles in the City Theatre New Works Festival and Jewish Community Center of Greater Pittsburgh productions. In recent years, she most enjoyed time with her family and her weekly lunches with a group of Pittsburgh friends residing in Boca Raton.
