Sumner Allen Goodwin
GOODWIN: Sumner Allen Goodwin died peacefully in his sleep on April 6, 2017. He was 87. Born in Worcester, Mass., to Hyman Goodwin and Lee Richmond Goodwin, Sumner graduated from Manlius Military Academy. He served in the Navy Reserve. He spent his civilian career in the shoe business as both a manufacturer representative and retailer. An avid golfer, Sumner took great pride in his hole in one and tenure as president at Westmoreland Country Club in Pittsburgh. He and his beloved wife of 65 years, Arlene Sandler Goodwin, raised their family in Pittsburgh before retiring to Boca Raton, Fla., where he was able to spend another 10 years on the golf links before having to retire his clubs. In addition to his wife, Sumner is survived by his two sons, Steven Goodwin and Philip Goodwin, and his daughter, Pamela Goodwin Zetterberg, along with Steve’s wife Kathy Glauber Goodwin and Pamela’s husband Alan Zetterberg. In addition, he leaves behind four grandchildren, Jessica Goodwin, Jaimie Goodwin Schwed, Emily Zetterberg, Wyatt Zetterberg, and three great grandchildren, Charlie Hughes, Emunah Schwed and Yeshaya Schwed.
