KIMMEL: Ruth E. Kimmel, age 89, of Farmington Hills, died February 24, 2016. Beloved wife for 64 years to the late Morris Kimmel. Devoted mother of Julie (Akiva Jerry Solomon) Solomon Kimmel, Sharon (late Dr. Richard) Reinherz and Robert (Laurie) Kimmel. Loving grandmother of Emily Leah (Stephanie Kurtz) Kimmel Kurtz, Rabbi Avihud (Faiga) Kimmel, Debra Solomon (Joshua) Newhous, Daniel (Biana Kofman Solomon) Solomon, Adam (Dr. Ariella) Reinherz, Dr. Benjamin (Rebecca) Reinherz and David Elliot Solomon. Proud great-grandmother of Brodie, Kara, Ari, Meira, Tahara, Sima, Bella, Raya, Eliana, Rina, Tuvia Simcha and Sara Tehila. Loving daughter to the late Celia and the late Aaron Mason. Cherished sister to the late Bertha (late Martin) Dishlip, late Rose (late Teddy) Uretsky and the late Toby (late Alice) Mason. An alumna of the University of Iowa, Mrs. Kimmel was the past president of Pioneer Women (NA’AMAT), a board member of Congregation Beth Moses, a supporter of the Detroit Symphony, a member of the women’s auxiliary of United Hebrew School and a volunteer at Meals on Wheels. Ruth also volunteered at the Farmington Hills Public Library and was known to all as “MOM.” A leader of Great Books, she also could recite poems at the drop of a hat and was a perpetual student of adult education. Ruth met her husband when she was 5 years old and even attended his bar mitzvah. An absolutely “best” wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Services and interment were held in Michigan.
