Rauh Jewish Archives adds photographs to Historic Pittsburgh

Rauh Jewish Archives of the Heinz History Center has added photographs from the Richard E. Rauh Collection to Historic Pittsburgh, an online photo archive, maintained by the University of Pittsburgh, depicting the history of the city and the region.
These latest images depict Bertha Rauh, with her family, and as the director of charities. She was the first woman in the United States to be appointed to the cabinet of a major city mayor. In that capacity, she was responsible for the conversion of Mayview Hospital into a modern psychiatric hospital. Images of the construction at the Mayview site are included.
