Nina G. Smith
SMITH: Nina G. Smith of Watertown, Massachusetts, died unexpectedly on December 27, 2016. She was the loving mother of attorney Debra L. Smith of Watertown, Massachusetts and Joel L. Smith of Colorado Springs, Colo., and caring grandmother of Jennifer and Emily Smith of Fort Collins, Colo. Ms. Smith was originally from Pittsburgh, but spent 30 years of her life in North Miami, Fla., and was a Miami Dolphins and Heat fan. Always fashionable, Ms. Smith formerly worked in retail including at the designer salon and men’s department at Saks Fifth Avenue in Pittsburgh and Miami, respectively and the Jockey Club in Florida. She showed her work ethic especially the importance of working hard in life as a homemaker to her children to achieve their dreams and was very proud of the success of her children. She was a person who knew what she wanted. She loved to watch football, horse races and movies, do crossword puzzle books and puzzles, watch ballet, listen to opera, learn about politics, watch theater and especially go to the Watertown Free Public Library. She was a voracious reader and enjoyed reading biographies, books about the law and court system and fiction. Her favorite authors were Dick Francis, Jeffrey Archer, John Grisham and others. A memorial service was held at the Watertown Free Public Library on December 30. Donations in Nina Smith’s memory may be made to the Watertown Free Public Library, an organization involving battered women.
