Night of Jewish learning begins May 14

The fourth annual Jewish learning celebration in western Pennsylvania, Tikkun Leil Shavuot, will take place Tuesday night, May 14, from 10 p.m. to 1 a.m. at the Jewish Community Center in Squirrel Hill.

What : Over 500 people from the full spectrum of Jewish affiliation will gather to study the Torah on the first night of Shavuot, the holiday that marks the receiving of the Torah from God at Mount Sinai.

Where: The JCC of Squirrel Hill; free and open event to the public.

Who: Seventeen congregations are participating and 21 study sessions are offered by rabbis and scholars from all affiliations: Orthodox, Conservative, Reform and Reconstructionist.

This is a unique and signature event of the Agency for Jewish Learning sponsored by the Jewish Federation and the JCC of Greater Pittsburgh.

Why: The Jewish people began learning Torah at Sinai, and we have continued ever since. We invite you to join the community on Wednesday night for Tikkun Leil Shavuot, as we continue this tradition of lifelong learning.

This year’s Tikkun received additional sponsorship from David and Meryl Ainsman and Richard and Elaine Levine. The Agency for Jewish Learning would like to thank them for their generous support of this event.
