Naomi Soodik Sondheimer

SONDHEIMER: Naomi Soodik Sondheimer, 95, of Beaver Falls, died January 5, 2014. She was born Nov. 5, 1918 in Beaver Falls, the daughter of the late Nathan and Gertrude Baker Soodek.  She was a graduate of Beaver Falls High School and Geneva College.  She was the president of Tri-State Equipment Company.  She was a member of the former United Jewish Community Center of Beaver Valley, president of their women’s auxiliary, a member of the Council of Jewish Women and a past president and life member of Hadassah.  She was a teacher in Beaver County Schools for 35 years.  Naomi began her teaching career in a one-room school house in Brighton Township and was a life member of the Pennsylvania Retired Teachers Association. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Harold David Sondheimer on March 20, 1988, brothers, Isadore “Sonny” Soodek, Benjamin Soodik, and a sister Hannah Solow. She is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Norman and Emily Sondheimer, Avon, CT, a son Edward Sondheimer, Beaver Falls, a daughter and son-in-law, Marci and David Landis, Natick, MA, her grandchildren, Jessica Sondheimer, Jonathan and Shiri Sondheimer, Haviva and Bina Landis, great-grandchildren, Isador and Zora Sondheimer, and a sister Sylvia Friedman,Pittsburgh. Visitation was held on Monday, Jan. 6, 2014 in the Hill & Kunselman Funeral Home in Beaver Falls.  Burial followed in Agudath Achim Cemetery.
