DENMARK: Morris Denmark 95 passed away Tuesday, February 19, 2013 at home in West Palm Beach, Florida surrounded by his family. Beloved husband and best friend of Frances Stanton Denmark. Loving and cherished father of Caryl (Henry) Cohen, Susan Denmark (Marc Darling), and Stephen (Elizabeth) Denmark. Grandpa of Jeff Cohen, Adam Cohen, and Zoe Denmark. Brother of Meyer Denmark, Betty Monroe, and the late Samuel Denmark; and many nieces and nephews. Mr. Denmark was born in Pittsburgh, raised in Steubenville, Ohio, and graduated from Steubenville High School. He proudly served in the US Army from 1941 to 1945 and was a prisoner of war from February of 1943 to May of 1945. Following the war he returned to Steubenville and for the next 45 years was the co-owner of Denmark’s Fur Shop Inc., operating women’s clothing stores. He was extremely involved in a variety of local charities and causes. He was a pillar of the Jewish community, serving as president of both Temple Beth Israel and the Jewish Community Council. Following his retirement, Morris and Frances moved to Pittsburgh and spent winters in West Palm Beach. He was an avid tennis player and golfer. Morris will be remembered by his family and friends for his generosity, kindness, intelligence and amazing sense of humor.
