AgeWell at the Jewish Community Center is offering the Jewish-Focused Aging Mastery, a health and wellness program with a Jewish focus, to participants age 60 and older, on Wednesdays, 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m., starting Sept. 28, at the JCC, 5738 Forbes Ave. in Squirrel Hill.
This 12-week program consists of the standard Aging Mastery Program (AMP) core curriculum “bookended” with classes that connect Jewish spirituality and wisdom with actions proven to improve health and well-being. This program is in collaboration with the JCC’s Jewish Life Department, headed by Rabbi Ron Symons.
The Aging Mastery Program was developed by the National Council on Aging (NCOA) and has been successful at helping older adults build their own playbook for aging well.
AMP is a fun, innovative and person-centered education program that empowers participants to embrace their gift of longevity by spending more time each day doing things that are good for themselves and for others. The program encourages mastery — developing sustainable behaviors across many dimensions that lead to improved health, stronger economic security, enhanced well-being and increased societal participation.
AgeWell at the JCC has received senior center accreditation through the National Council on Aging/National Institute of Senior Centers.
The program fee is $118; reservations are required. Contact Sharon Feinman at 412-697-3533 or sfeinman@jccpgh.org to register.
