Ruth Ganz Fargotstein will receive the Anne Copeland Remembrance Award during the Israel Bonds Pittsburgh Women’s Council’s 15th annual Chai Tea. The event will be held on Monday, July 13 at 1:30 p.m. at the Pittsburgh Garden Center. Co-chairs are Debby Firestone, Dorothy Greenfield and Sharon Schwartz. National Council of Jewish Women Pittsburgh Section will host its first Back 2 School Store (B2SS) in August. NCJW will prepare children from kindergarten to fifth grade from economically disadvantaged families for the new school year with a new outfit and shoes and a backpack filled with school supplies, assisted by a volunteer “personal shopper.” They will also pick a winter coat, hat and gloves.

Volunteers are needed for shoppers, work registration and help to build dressing rooms.

Aryeh Sherman, president and CEO of Jewish Family & Children’s Service, has announced that he will retire in September 2016. He has been with JF&CS for more than 16 years and has spent more than 40 years in the human services field.

The JF&CS board of directors is developing a plan for the transition process. Incoming board chair Jeffrey Freedman has appointed immediate past board chair Wendy Mars to head the search committee.
