Little Lake Theatre is auditioning actors for a fall tour production of “Letters to Sala.” The production is looking for men (ages 20-35) and women (ages 20-50) for various roles. All actors on tour receive a stipend per performance.

Auditions will be held on Sunday, Aug. 7 from noon to 2 p.m. Cold readings and appointments are recommended. Show dates are Oct. 14, 21, 28 and Nov. 4, 13, 14. Daytime availably for the four Friday shows is required.

In October 1940, Sala Garncarz was 16 years old and living with her large family in Poland, close to the German border. When her older sister was ordered to report to a Nazi forced labor camp for six weeks, young Sala volunteered to take her place. This true and victorious survival story of her five years in seven different camps is even more remarkable because she was able to conceal more than 350 letters received from family and friends during her imprisonment. Sala’s letters, donated to the Dorot Jewish Division of The New York Public Library in 2005, are not only a significant addition to Holocaust research, but have also been called, “the greatest find since Anne Frank’s diary.” Sala’s story is one of beauty, courage and impact.

The “Letters to Sala” tour is being produced in partnership with Classrooms Without Borders, a program of the Jewish Federation of Greater Pittsburgh.
