Malone to be honored at JNF’s Tree of Life Award Dinner

Jewish National Fund (JNF) will host its annual Tree of Life Award Dinner at the Omni William Penn Hotel Wednesday, Sept. 5. The event will honor David J. Malone, president and CEO of Gateway Financial. Cocktails will be served at 6 p.m., and the dinner reception will begin at 7 p.m.

The Tree of Life Award is a humanitarian award given in recognition of outstanding community involvement, dedication to the causes of American-Israel friendship, and devotion to peace and security of human life.

“I am honored to be receiving the Tree of Life Award on behalf of Jewish National Fund,” Malone said in a prepared statement. “The mission of Jewish National Fund shares my vision in bringing life and prosperity to communities and regions that need support.”

Malone’s work with Gateway Financial specializes in sophisticated uses of life insurance for complex needs, including generational wealth planning for high net-worth individuals and executive benefits for public and private companies.

Malone chaired the State’s Workforce Investment Board after serving for four years as chair of the Three Rivers Workforce Investment Board for Pittsburgh and Allegheny County. He also chaired YouthPlaces, the Pittsburgh Regional Alliance and served as vice chair of the Allegheny Conference on Community Development.

He is currently director of FNB Corporation and the Western Pennsylvania Surgery Center and a trustee of Robert Morris University and the Jewish Healthcare Foundation.

The dinner will feature guest speaker Major General (Res.) Uzi Dayan of the Israel Defense Forces. Dayan is the lay leader chair of Green Horizons, an Israeli youth movement that focuses on helping children and teenagers acquire self-confidence, independence, curiosity and a better understanding of their surroundings, with a goal of fostering leadership.
