Letters to the editor October 3
A difficult illness
Thank you for the informative article on Parkinson’s and Jews in time for the Moving Day event (“Jews grapple with Parkinson’s, look to Israel, local sources for help,” Sept. 26.)
This article helps bring awareness to a difficult illness that hasn’t reached the glamour status of others, which have become so acceptable in many circles of American culture.
I’m so glad you were able to include quotes from numerous sources and experts while bringing hope about promising research and the importance of support of family and friends in order to live well with PD.
You’ve done an amazing job in keeping your readers informed about Jewish genetic diseases. When the genetic marker is finally presented for PD, we may need to add it to the essential screenings about which The Jewish Chronicle of Pittsburgh keeps us continually informed.
