Leonard Chottiner
CHOTTINER LEONARD: Age 88, formerly of Pleasant Hills died on Sunday, Aug. 12, 2012 in Fairfield, CT. He was born Jan. 10, 1924 in Clairton and was the son of the late Solomon and Nachama (Barish) Chottiner. Mr. Chottiner was the husband of the late Meida Moskowitz Chottiner. He is survived by his sons, Scott (Jennifer) Chottiner of Westport, CT and Lee (Rabbi Beth Jacowitz) Chottiner of Wheeling, WV; grandchildren, Cameron and Noa Chottiner; and sister, Hilda Wertkin of Lower Burrell. He was preceded in death by his brothers, Ben, Abe, Louis and Jacob Chottiner. Born in Clairton, Mr. Chottiner served in Army in the Pacific Theater of Operations during World War II. He graduated from Carnegie Tech with a degree in chemical engineering and worked for the U.S. Bureau of Mines before becoming a contractor for his family’s business, Chottiner Home Improvements on Miller Avenue in Clairton. Services will be held on Wednesday at 11:30 a.m. in Temple B’nai Israel, 2025 Cypress Dr., White Oak, PA 15131, with Rabbi Paul Tuchman officiating. Interment will follow in Temple B’nai Israel Cemetery. The family has requested memorial contributions to Temple Shalom, 23 Bethany Pike, Wheeling, WV, 26003. Arrangements are entrusted to the JENNIFER S. JORDAN FUNERAL HOME, INC., White Oak.
