Judith Siegel-Baum
SIEGEL-BAUM: On Sunday, July 22, 2012, in her home in New York City, Judith Siegel-Baum, 65, of New York City and formerly of Washington, Pa.; daughter of the late Sherman H. Siegel, Esq. and the late Miriam D. Siegel; sister of the late Dr. Joel E. Siegel ; cousin of Michael Siegel, Esq., Pamela Siegel, Erica and Mark Siegel and James E. Kopelman, Esq.; Judith was born on December 9, 1946, in Washington, where she lived until leaving for college at the University of Wisconsin, where she earned her bachelor’s degree. She obtained her master’s degree from Emerson College and went on to obtain her juris doctorate, cum laude, from the New England School of Law. She was an equity partner in the national law firm of Cozen O’Connor until her death, and prior to joining that firm, she was a partner with the firm of WolfBlock, LLP in New York City. Siegel-Baum practiced law in the areas of trusts, estates and matrimonial law, with particular emphasis on estate litigation and contested and uncontested divorces. Judith lectured for both local and national bars, accounting associations and charitable organizations. She had articles published in Estate Planning, New York Law Journal, New York State Bar Journal and the Domestic Law Review of the Winchester County Bar Association, as well as the New York State Bars, Trusts and Estates Law Section Newsletter. She has been quoted in Forbes Magazine, New York Magazine, Private Assessment Management and the Chicago Tribune Review. Siegel-Baum was admitted to the practice of law in the state of New York and before the U.S. District Courts for the Southern and Eastern Districts of New York, and the United States Supreme Court. She was a fellow of the American College of Trust and Estate Counsel, and served as chairperson of the New York State Bar Association’s Committee on Estate and Trust Administration. She was a former member of the Board of “God’s Love We Deliver,” and at the time of her death was a member of the professional advisory committee of the Metropolitan Museum of Art, the Museum of Modern Art and the Central Park Conservancy. Services were held at Beth Israel Cemetery in Washington; Rabbi David Novitsky officiated.
