Tanur, Joel, 85, of Ft. Lauderdale, FL, passed away on April 7, 2012 after a short and valiant fight against lymphoma. He was predeceased by his parents Fanny and Samuel Tanur, son Ronald Tanur and sisters Ray (Max) Hadburg and Micki (Mel) Fiedler. Survived by his wife Selma; son Steven, daughter Susan (Ellman), step-son Reid (Beth) Ofseur and step-daughter Sherri (Neal) Osiason; grandchildren Sam Tanur; Elizabeth, Rachel and Daniel Ellman; Bailie and Pierce Ofseur and Jason Osiason. He graduated from Allderdice High School in Pittsburgh, attended Pitt, served in WWII (Army), after which he joined the family business Tanur Bros. He was adored by all for his easy-going style and generous heart. He loved to tell jokes, play pranks, hit the golf course, play cards and follow the Pittsburgh Steelers. He will be missed by many. Donations are preferred to the Israel Red Cross (Magen David Adom) Heart to Heart Program or Memorial Hospital Pembroke Hospice Program (Florida).
