BERGER: Joan M. Berger of Oakland passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family at the age of 81 after a long battle with primary progressive aphasia on Saturday, October 31, 2015. Beloved wife of the late Robert Berger. Beloved mother of Susie and David Roth and Janice and Dr. Lee Feinberg. Special Grammy to Andrew and Amanda Roth, Jessica Feinberg, the late William Jon Roth, Michael Feinberg and Julie and Andrew Tihey. Great-grandmother of David William Roth. Dear sister of Wilma Levine and Abe Levine. Sister-in-law of Joan Berger. Joan led an active life from tennis to bowling or mahj to bridge with her friends. However, nothing gave her more pleasure in life than her children and grandchildren. She taught her grandchildren the games she played along with every solitaire game imaginable. She had Sunday dinners every week and held every holiday dinner. She was the matriarch of the family and the reason our family is so close to this day.
