Jazz Workshop Family Night

Jazz Workshop, Inc. Family Night presents Victor Provost (Steel Pan Performer) Wednesday, May 26, 5:30 to 7 p.m. at the Carnegie Library Homewood, 7101 Hamilton Ave. Born and raised in the U.S. Virgin Islands, Victor began his musical journey at 10 years of age. His interest in the steel drum began at St. John School of the Arts. His music includes Calypso, Reggae, Classical Soul, Blues. He also has been performing as a jazz artist for more than 10 years. He was the first steel pan player to be featured at the Umbria Jazz Festival in Perugia, Italy, in 1999. Having performed across North America, Europe, and the Caribbean, he has toured with the 21st Century Band (featuring Ron Blake and Dion Parson) and the award-winning Real Silk Band and recorded with artist such as Roger Humprhries, James Johnson III, Dwayne Dolphin, Lafayette Harris Jr., Tim Adams and Ken Karsh.
