Isadore F. “Izzy” Herman

Isadore F. “Izzy” Herman, 100, of New Kensington, died May 17, 2011.
Born March 24, 1911 in Chicago, to the late Abraham & Gertrude Schuchalter Herman, he was a New Kensington resident since 1916.
He owned and operated Herman’s Nut Shop in New Kensington from 1939 until 1990.
Mr. Herman was a member of the Adat Shalom B’Nai Israel Beth Jacob Congregation of Indiana Township, and the Lions Club and Chamber of Commerce of New Kensington. He also belonged to and enjoyed traveling with Retail Confectioners International.
Surviving are his daughter Karen (Tom) Cascone of New Kensington; grandchildren, Star (Scott) Laliberte of New Kensington, Nicolle Cascone of Bloomfield, Joshua (Danna) Cascone of Dormont, Sarah (Justin Jones) Cascone of Penn Hills, Heather and Ashley Herman of Arnold and Brian (Megan Carbaugh) Herman of Highland Park; and four great-grandchildren, Christian & Isabella Laliberte and Vincenzo & Massimo Cascone; several nieces and nephews including Larry (Suze) Deitch; and close family friend, Merissa DeVries.
Besides his parents and late wife, he was preceded in death by his son Richard Herman; siblings Phil & Joseph Herman and Bertha Phillips; and step-mother Eva Herman.
Services were held in the ROSS G. WALKER FUNERAL HOME LTD., (724-335-1234), 217 Freeport Road, New Kensington at 10:00 AM on Friday, May 20, 2011. Burial followed in Beth Jacob Cemetery, New Kensington. To leave an online condolence visit www.rossgwalker.com
