Holocaust uncovered
Coming from Israeli director Yael Hersonski, ‘A Film Unfinished’ is being hailed as one of the most important documents of the Holocaust in years.
The documentary will screen in Pittsburgh for one night only — Saturday, Nov. 6 at 7:30 p.m. — at the Regent Square theater. The screening is a part of JFilm: The Pittsburgh Jewish Film Forum
and Three Rivers Film Festival
The documentary is based on 60 minutes of raw film that was shot by the Nazis in the Warsaw ghetto in 1942, labeled “Ghetto” and all but forgotten until the end of the war. Years later, a missing reel was uncovered revealing that the the staging of scenes that were to be included in the Nazi piece of propaganda, showing off the pretend ‘good’ treatment of Jews in the ghetto.
“A Film Unfinished” presents that raw footage in its entirety, pointing out the staged material and presenting a new look at the horrors of the Holocaust, and the efforts to cover it all up.
