Giant Eagle launching new line of prepared kosher foods

Giant Eagle is launching a new line of prepared, old world-style kosher foods in select area supermarkets, beginning this month, according to a press release.
(The New York Times carried a story Jan. 13 in their Dining section, “For Some, ‘Kosher‘ Equals Pure.)
The new line of kosher foods will be carried in its prepared foods department so that customers looking for quick and kosher will have options.
“Giant Eagle’s goal is to customize our product offerings for customers of all backgrounds in our communities,” said Giant Eagle senior director of corporate communications, Rob Borella, in the release.
All of the new kosher products are produced in a Hasidic kosher plant with strict quality control and rabbinic supervision. Customers will also be able to call ahead with special orders.
Stores carrying the new products are Greenfield, Squirrel Hill, Mt. Lebanon, Seven Fields, Monroeville, Fox Chapel, Ross Township and Wexford.
