Funeral held Sunday

A 14-year-old female camper died following a weather-related accident at the Emma Kaufmann Camp, in Morgantown, W.Va. the The Jewish Community Center of Greater Pittsburgh has announced Thursday.

According to the JCC the girl was seriously injured last evening when a tree, weakened by heavy rains, fell at the camp. On-site medical staff treated her until local emergency services arrived and took her to a nearby hospital. She did not survive her injuries.

All other campers and staff members are safe, according to the JCC.

The family of the camper was notified immediately and camp staff members met with them personally.

Meanwhile, the camp has brought in grief counselors and other support professionals from Pittsburgh to help campers and staff cope with the loss.

Emma Kaufmann Camp is owned and operated by the JCC.
