The Life and Times of Hank Greenberg
August 31, 2017 , 7:00 pm
Congregation Ahavath Achim, the Carnegie Shul, will be showing the film, “The Life and Times of Hank Greenberg,” at the Hollywood Theater in Dormont at 7 p.m. The program is being funded by a grant from South Hills Jewish Pittsburgh, a part of the Jewish Federation of Greater Pittsburgh. The Peabody Award-winning film is a sometimes humorous and often nostalgic documentary about how the former Detroit Tigers (and later Pittsburgh Pirates) slugger became a beacon of hope to American Jews who faced bigotry during the Depression and World War II, and how he became a genuine American hero. The program is free and open to the community, and attendees will receive free popcorn and soda. RSVP at southhillsjewishpittsburgh.org.
