Sisterhood Movie Night at Rodef Shalom

The Women of Rodef Shalom are especially pleased to invite members of your organization or congregation to their popular Sisterhood Movie Night Series as they begin this year’s series with a wonderful Israeli comedy, The Women’s Balcony, that was considered the favorite of Jewish Film Festivals around the country in 2017 including Pittsburgh’s own JFilm. It was also circulated for another year in mainstream theaters around the country.

The Women’s Balcony written by Shlomit Nehama and directed by Emil Ben-Shimon and acted by an ensemble of orthodox Jews with some relaxed liberal tendencies. They are suddenly confronted by a situation that throws their tight-knit community into a state of confusion and unhappiness between the men and the women while making some sharp points about fanaticism masked as holiness and tolerance among the faithful. The film is a charming comedy that opens discussion about the point of tight –knit religious communities. It can be enjoyed by Jews (or non Jews) of any stripe.

The film will be shown on Sunday, October 14th at 7 is in Hebrew with English subtitles. Light refreshments and socializing will follow the showing
