JCC South Hills to Celebrate Its 20th Birthday
The Jewish Community Center of Greater Pittsburgh will celebrate the 20th “birthday” of the JCC in the South Hills. Everyone is welcome Sunday, January 27, at the JCC, 345 Kane Blvd., Scott Township.
It’s been a great 20 years of preschool, summer camps, fitness, recreation, swimming and most important, community building – the JCC is the town hall of the community.
The South Hills JCC facility took years to come to fruition. Starting in the early 1990s, South Hills programs of the JCC were held in the former Ward school in Mount Lebanon. Ground was broken in June 1997 for the Henry Kaufmann Building in Scott Township, built on a portion of the Kane Hospital site. The building was dedicated in 1999.
To this day, the JCC provides connections and community. Every day, infants and young children learn something new in our Early Childhood Development Center, children and teens build their skills through dance, aquatics and sports and recreation programs, and adults swim laps, work out in our state-of-the-art fitness center, take group exercise classes or older adult fitness classes and programs, and socialize in our lobby.
JCC facilities will be free and open to everyone. Birthday Highlights Include:

• Group Blast Launch at 10 am
• Group Centergy Launch at 10:45 am
• Family Dance Party at 12:30 pm
• Fitness Center: open 2–6 pm (must be 16 years old)
• Swimming Pool: open 2–6 pm (children under the age of 8 or who do not know how to swim must be accompanied in the pool by an adult)
• Gymnasium: open 2–6 pm (children under the age of 8 must be accompanied by an adult)
