Applications due for the Immigrant Workforce Program

The Immigrant Workforce Program introduces immigrant and refugee job seekers to the American job market and provides them with the essential skills and competencies necessary to succeed in both the job search and in the workplace. Now in its second year, the 9-week program is being offered as a collaboration between JFCS Career Development Center, Literacy Pittsburgh, and All for All.

Participants will learn how to write resumes, develop their professional networks and interview successfully. The program will also offer individualized vocational English training aimed at building contextualized workplace fluency along with employment-focused technology skills, including how to search and apply for jobs online and an introduction Microsoft Office applications. Participants will have the opportunity to meet with employers that are actively hiring and develop their professional networks through All for All’s Connector Program.

The collaborative Immigrant Workforce Program will begin on Monday, October 8th and will meet on Mondays and Wednesdays from 6 to 8PM, ending on Wednesday, December 5th. All sessions will be held at the Global Switchboard in Lawrenceville. Free parking and onsite childcare will be provided.

The Immigrant Workforce Program is free for those who qualify. Individuals wishing to participate must be fully authorized to work within the United States. Applications are due by Wednesday, October 3rd. Please contact Robin Farabee-Siers at rfarabee-siers@jfcspgh.org or (412) 586-3773 to apply.
