J Street Pittsburgh and Partners for a Progressive Israel are co-sponsoring a program with Mekomi (My Place) on Sunday, November 5, at 3:15 at the Carnegie Library in Squirrel Hill. Mekomi is an Israeli organization working to build the next generation of progressive Israeli officials. The program includes Bar Gissin and Ido Stossel. They will speak about the current atmosphere of political and social activism in Israel which is being generated and organized by the younger generation, and their vision for Israel’s future. Bar Gissin is the national chairperson of Young Meretz and the Development Coordinator at the Center for Equality & Shared Society in Givat Haviva. She is also the former coordinator of the Task Force on Human Trafficking and Prostitution, which promotes legislation to eliminate these ills in Israeli society. Ido Stossel is a political advisor and date analyst and former advisor to MK Stav Shaffir. He has served as general secretary of Israel’s Young Labor and director general of the Bezalel Academy of Arts Student Union.
