Elinor Cooperman Katz

Elinor Cooperman Katz of Boca Raton, Florida passed away on August 20th, 2012 at the age of 82.  She was born and raised in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania and was married to her late husband, William Katz for 60 years.  Elinor is survived by her three children, Barbara, Gary and John and her sister, Dini.  She was the proud grandmother of Rebecca, Joshua and Alexandra.

Elinor served the Jewish community in a myriad of ways.  She and her late husband served as chairs of the Israel Bond’s 25th Anniversary of the founding of the state of Israel.  Elinor, who joined ORT in 1955 quickly, became a chapter President, and then Region President followed by many years as a National Executive Committee Vice President.  The ORT convention, held at the newly opened Pittsburgh Hilton was at her suggestion.  The thousands of “ORTists” saw our city in a new light.  The old saying that “you never came clean from Pittsburgh” was finally dispelled.
