SNIDER: On Wednesday, May 13, 2015, Edwin Snider; Beloved husband of Henya (Schneider) Snider. Loving father of Daniel Snider (Bonnie Foreman Snider) and Marc (Tracy) Snider. Brother of Myron Snider, Sharon Snider and the late Howard Snider. Brother-in-law of Harry (Patty) Schneider, Eileen Snider and Susan Snider. Grandfather of Maxwell, Sam, Reis, Michaela, Brianna, Elijah and Aleia. Also survived by nieces and nephews. Edwin was the epitome of living the selfless life. He always put everyone else’s needs in front of his own. From a young age, when he took over his father’s meat market (Dan Sniders meat market in Oakland) to every decision he made following. Everyone that he ever worked for, or with, or anyone lucky enough to call him a friend, knew they had met a very special person. Even as he spent the final three years of his life living at Charles Morris, the doctors, nurses, aides and other patients called him the Governor. Despite his own hardships, he welcomed new patients, reminded the employees to not work so hard, or told them to go home early and get some rest. As he fought through the hardest parts of his life, he always made sure others were good first. His greatest joys were his family. Nothing made him happier than when his family was happy. The louder, the crazier, the better. It means they were happy. They were living, as they should. Edwin ended conversations with a gesture of love and telling whoever he was with to “be safe.” Edwin loved sitting outside in the sunshine. … So as you walk along on a beautiful, warm and sunny summer day, don’t be sad for our loss. Smile because the warmth Edwin gave in life will shine for all time, with brightness and warmth. Services were held at Ralph Schugar Chapel, Inc. Interment Beth Shalom Cemetery.
