Dr. Paul Foreman
FOREMAN: Dr. Paul Foreman, age 91; On Wednesday, January 14, 2015; Son of the late Raymond and Esther Foreman; Brother to the late Herman, Anna and George Foreman; Husband of the late Ruth Frankston Foreman; Beloved father of Bruce (Rosemary) Foreman of Naples, Fla., David (Terre) Foreman of Phoenix, Ariz., Michael Foreman of Pittsburgh, Barbara I. Foreman Klein of Pittsburgh and Raymond (Bonnie) Foreman of Fairfax, Va. Loving grandfather of Samuel (Vanessa), Matthew (Adriane), Crystal (Geoffrey), Elizabeth (Bradley), Rebecca, Jacqueline, Benjamin and Leah. Paul grew up in the Hill District, graduated from Peabody High School and attended the University of Pittsburgh for his undergraduate degree and the School of Dentistry, graduating with his DDS in 1945. He met and married Ruth in 1946. He opened his own dental office in Squirrel Hill and practiced for 10 years. He then joined the Navy as Lt. Commander where he served as a dentist for two years in Bayonne, N.J., during the Korean War. Upon his honorable discharge, he re-opened his office in Oakland where his practice thrived. He remained in Oakland, with his final office being in his own building at 3356 Fifth Ave. Paul was active in many dental organizations during his almost 50 year career as a dentist. He was also active in many Jewish organizations and was a strong supporter of Israel. He had a love for learning, which continued throughout his life. He went back to school at night and earned a master’s in public health and a master’s in education. He pursued a doctorate in education, but never finished his dissertation. His endless thirst for learning continued into his retirement by taking over 100 classes offered by the University of Pittsburgh and Carnegie Mellon University in their adult learning programs. Paul was a devoted son, brother, husband, father and grandfather and friend. Services were held at Ralph Schugar Chapel, Inc. Interment Beth Shalom Cemetery.
