Dr. Hyman Zuckerman

ZUCKERMAN: Dr. Hyman Zuckerman, a respected Denver physician for many years, passed away July 31, 2013, in Pittsburgh, and was buried at Rose Hill Cemetery in Denver. “My dad was a role model to all who knew him,” said daughter Marsha Zuckerman. “A beloved doctor who always made you feel like things would turn out all right, he was an engaged, generous and supportive father and grandfather.” Dr. Zuckerman was born July 5, 1917, on Denver’s West Side. He graduated from North High School, the University of Denver and University of Colorado Medical School. From 1944-1946, he served as a physician with the rank of captain in the US Army. After his wife, Lilly Glaser, passed away in August, 2011, he moved to Pittsburgh to be closer to his daughters. Dr. Zuckerman loved sports, history, philosophy, opera, classical music, Jewish tradition and Yiddishkeit. He learned to ski when he was 54. After his retirement he was an active member of and teacher at Osher Life Long Learning in Denver. Dr. Zuckerman is survived by his brother Daniel (Lois) Zuckerman of Denver; children Marsha (Mike Tobias) Zuckerman of Pittsburgh, Richard Zuckerman of San Francisco and Debra (Stewart) Anderson of Pittsburgh; grandchildren Adam (Ilene) Tobias, Jason Tobias, Maya (Joey Rosenberg) Tobias, Natalie Zuckerman, Joe Anderson and Naomi Anderson; and great-grandchildren Sammy and Liv Tobias.
