Diana Bloom Stern
STERN: Diana Bloom Stern passed away on August 20, 2015. Diana was born in Pittsburgh on June 10, 1926, to Aaron and Helen Bloom. She grew up in Squirrel Hill, attended Allderdice High School and then University of Pittsburgh. Diana married her sweetheart, John Stern, in 1948 who preceded her in death, and she will be missed dearly by her three children, Belinda (Steven Schickler), Bob (Lynne Dixon) and Susan; and her two grandchildren, Kyle and Graham Schickler. Diana worked as a vocational counselor at Duquesne High School and was beloved in that role by the students and teachers. Diana was cherished by every community she touched, retaining best friends as far back as Wightman Elementary School and Allderdice, contributing to and loved by her friends at Temple Emanuel and friends she gathered from Elatan Drive and 750 Washington Road. No one had a wider circle of devoted friends and this is the greatest testament to Diana’s genuine concern and care of those around her. Graveside services will be held on Sunday, Aug. 23 at 1:30 p.m. at the Mount Lebanon Cemetery. Donations in memory of Diana may be made to Temple Emanuel of South Hills or Doctors Without Borders. Arrangements trusted to D’Alessandro Funeral Home & Crematory Ltd., Lawrenceville.
