CEISLER: Connie (nee Levy) Ceisler, age 88 of Philadelphia, on September 3, 2015. Devoted and beloved wife of the late Robert Ceisler of Washington, Pa. She is survived by her children, Gina Ceisler Shapiro (Stuart) of Bala Cynwyd and Larry Ceisler (Lina Hartocollis) of Philadelphia. She is also survived by her four grandchildren. She was born in Beaver Falls, Pa., and raised in McKeesport, Pa. Her father died when she was 14 months old and she was raised by a courageous mother, Ella Levy. She lived most of her life in Washington, Pa. She married Robert Ceisler in 1955 and they celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary at the University of Michigan Law School, from where he graduated. The Ceislers were a very involved couple in Western Pennsylvania. She was active in the Jewish Federation, Washington Hospital, Pittsburgh Symphony and Washington & Jefferson College. She belonged to Beth Israel Congregation in Washington where she was a member of Sisterhood and Hadassah.  But most importantly, she supported her husband in his legal career and raised a family. She was a woman of impeccable taste who made friends from every walk of life. She moved to Center City Philadelphia from Washington  in 2009 after her husband’s death to be closer to her family. She loved Philadelphia and the arts and culture that were available to her. Being close to New York, she became a regular Broadway patron. She was a graduate of Penn State University and a member of Sigma Delta Tau Sorority, from which she maintained lifetime friendships. She received a master’s degree in education from the University of Pittsburgh. She was a teacher in McKeesport and Washington. A funeral service will be held on Sunday, Sept. 6, 2015, at 11 a.m. in the Warco-Falvo Funeral Home, 336 Wilson Ave. at East Katherine Ave. in Washington, Pa. The family will receive friends beginning at 10 a.m.  Burial will follow in Beth Israel Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the “Ceisler Award” Washington & Jefferson College, 60 South Lincoln Street, Washington, PA. 15301 Attn: Lori Daugherty or to the Abramson Cancer Center, Penn Medicine Development, 3535 Market Street Suite 750, Philadelphia, PA 19104, penncancer.org
