KUPERSTOCK: Betty L. Kuperstock, 84, Johnstown, died Jan. 7, 2014, at Memorial Medical Center. Born Aug. 18, 1929, in Pittsburgh, daughter of Max and Lillian (Edelstein) Pretter. Preceded in death by parents and sisters, Barbara Cushner, Ruth Albert and Joan Mendler. Survived by husband of 66 years, Albert D.; children, Jeff, married to the former Nancy Warner, Westminster, Md.; Carol, married to Charles Howell, Youngstown, Ohio; and Mark, married to the former Caroline Jordon, Encino, Calif.; grandchildren, Abby and Dr. Jacob Kuperstock, Nicholas and Elizabeth Howell and Evan Kuperstock; and sister, Jean Brill. Member of Beth Sholom Congregation, Rotary Anns and various other Johnstown organizations. Lifelong member of Hadassah. For many years, she brought a smile to so many in the Johnstown and Pittsburgh areas through her wonderful and caring personality and good deeds. She had many talents such as cooking, baking and decorating. She earned the nickname “Cookie Lady” because when she visited nursing homes in Johnstown and Pittsburgh for 28 years, she always brought cookies. She enjoyed sharing her talents with people. She was known to consult for weddings, Bar and Bat Mitzvahs and other occasions. Most of all, she was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother.
