Be prepared
Chanuka is one of the most recognized and well-known holidays in the whole cannon of Jewish festivities, though religiously, it pales in comparison to Passover, Yom Kippur, Rosh Hashana and most others.
But let’s be frank: it’s not famous for nothing. Chanuka may be the most visible holiday to the non-Jewish world because of its close proximity to Christmas, and the way we Jews have turned the Festival of Lights into the Extravaganza of Gifts.
While there is any number of issues to be made here, we’re not going to raise them. At its core, gift giving is a good thing — a chance for us to show how much we appreciate our friends and relatives. But finding the perfect gift isn’t always easy. That’s why we are presenting the 2010 Chanuka Gift Guide for Hard-to-Please People.
