Barak: Iran on the hunt for Israelis
Iran and the terror group Hezbollah are on the hunt for Israelis worldwide, warned Israel’s Defense Minister Ehud Barak Tuesday.
“The Iranians and Hezbollah are determined to sabotage Israeli daily life and are operating against Israelis all over the world,” Barak said. “We will have to act on the terror front and continue preparing for the challenges that lie ahead of us.”
Barak’s comments came a day after terrorists targeted Israeli diplomats in India and Georgia. In the India attack, the wife of an Israeli diplomat suffered light to moderate wounds and is recuperating in a New Delhi hospital. The attack in the capital city of Georgia, Tbilisi, was foiled.
The driver of the car in the India attack was also injured. Both attacks took place one day after the four-year mark of the assassination of Hezbollah leader Imad Mugniyeh. Iran and Hezbollah blamed Israel for Mugniyeh’s death.
Indian police say a man on a motorcycle placed a magnetic bomb on the car in which a wife of an Israeli official was riding. The bomb was powerful enough to blow out windows of shops nearby.
The attack in Tbilisi was uncovered when an Israeli embassy driver discovered a bomb taped to the underside of the embassy car.
In related news, two blasts shook Bangkok today, one of which severely injured an Iranian perpetrator. According to The New York Times, three “foreign looking” men were seen fleeing a building moments after an explosion. One of the men then stumbled into the street and threw a bomb at a passing taxi. When police approached to apprehend the man, he threw a grenade at them. The grenade, however, exploded nearby, blowing off at least one of the man’s legs.
