A. Joel Rice

RICE: On Thursday, May 10, 2012, Dr. A. Joel “A.J.” Rice, 69; father of Leigh Rice and Shay Rice; son of the late Frank and Marlene Rice of Squirrel Hill; brother of Marc Rice of Pittsburgh; Dr. Rice passed away peacefully at his home in Three Rivers, Calif., surrounded by family and friends. A.J. was raised in Pittsburgh; he graduated from the University of Pittsburgh pharmacy school and continued on to receive his medical and doctorate degrees in clinical pharmacology from the University of Iowa. He did his medical residency at Stanford University. Eschewing academia, he eventually settled in the small town of Three Rivers, Calif., where he practiced medicine for 32 years.
